About Blooming House

Blooming House Women's Shelter Inc. (Blooming House) is dedicated to improving the lives of women experiencing homelessness on PEI. It operates as a low-barrier, harm reduction, 16 hour overnight shelter for women and those identifying as female experiencing homelessness. We believe in a person-centered approach and strive to provide dignity, care and shelter for our guests.

Blooming House has operated an 8 bed shelter since 2019. To date, we have provided shelter to over 200 women. We are open every day from 4pm-8am. In addition to providing emergency shelter, we provide transportation for women to our facility, food for dinner and breakfast, access to new clothing, hygiene products and counselling with our overnight staff. Through the work of our Resource Coordinator we have transitioned over 30 women to housing and continue to support them after they leave the shelter.

What to Bring

A few common sense suggestions:

  • A cell phone for emergencies (recommended but not required)
  • Your bike and helmet or walking shoes
  • Extra snacks if you have allergies or food sensitivities
  • Your own water bottle
  • Warm layers with moisture-repelling clothing. Early October weather can be cool, with rain and wind. The weather might also be gorgeous and sunny. So be sure to keep your eye on the forecast.
  • A passion for the charity you're fundraising for!
